RIP Eartha Kitt

I had never heard of Eartha Kitt until I met Mr. Matt. But like many of other artists he's introduced me too, I've since spent countless hours (mostly while remodeling the basement) listening to her. What an amazing woman, may her music live on forever.

Happy Birthday Baby!

When all other means of communication fail, try words (Author Unknown)

For the most part, Mr. Matt and I communicate very well. But every once in awhile we hit a bump in the road and this weekend we crashed right into the bump. I particularly have a hard time talking to Matt about a few certain subjects and am famous for keeping things bottled up until I just well....Explode into tears. Yes I admit...as a friend once put it....I have a little bit of the crazies in me. Our marriage is more than incredibly great...but even great marriages take work and we/I need to work on our communication skills when it comes to certain topics. Just something to aim for:).

Happy Birthday Matt...I love you more than I ever thought possible to love someone. I look forward to spending many more birthdays with you (as long as they're yours haha).

For Mr. Matts birthday, we went to the exhibit Body Worlds as he's/we've been wanting to see it since it made its debut in town. So very interesting to see. I decided to make it extra exciting for Matt by passing out not even 15 minutes into it. No, I am not a sissy girl...it didn't have anything to do with the content we were viewing. I think it was due to lack of food, over exursion on the treadmill, stress, and the dark vs the lighting on the exibits that made me so dizzy. Anyways...can you say embarrasing! I am trying to talk Matt into taking a weekend trip to Vegas and making it a point to see the Body worlds exhibit there.

Sister Shauna threw a birthday party for him at her house complete with a homemade cake! Matt loved it. We played games and ate snacks...it was a very nice evening.

Christmas is coming faster than ever and I (as always) have waited until the last minute to prepare. This upcoming week will be very busy.

Christmas Tree

In an attempt to get into the "Christmas Spirit", we blasted Christmas music courtesy of Pandora.com and put together our Christmas tree.

Has to start somewhere.

Maybe someday we will invest in a pre-lit tree :)

Gabe got tired of watching us and decided to sleep on the couch.

Matt putting hooks on the ornaments.

Setback: After we finished all of the decorating, Matt picked the tree up to scoot it back into the corner when the stand decided to crack in half. In this picture the tree is leaning against the wall.

After an emergency run to the store for a new tree stand...our tree was finished!!

You didn't think we could decorate the tree without decorating the cat now did you??!

Vacation

We finally took a vacation! It honestly feels like its been forever since we've gotten away. We originally started planning a vacation to either San Francisco or San Diego. Somewhere in the middle of trying to book flights, a rental car, and search for a Bed and Breakfast to stay in...I realized that it wasn't a run around hectic sort of vacation that I wanted....I wanted to RELAX. It was then that I found a little house nestled up in the mountains near Lava, Idaho called Abracadabra. This little getaway house was surrounded by beautiful scenery, tucked away from civilization, but still close enough to Lava that we could soak in the Springs and have a dinner date night. Bonus 1: this place was so reasonably priced that we were able to keep the vacation to just a few hundred dollars and didn't even have to touch our savings. Bonus 2: We were able to bring the pups with us.

The view from the patio was incredible.

Living room...I fell in love with the cozy fireplace.

Picture of some deer. We were able to see deer in the mornings. Were hoping to see a moose but never did.

Sam loved running through the bushes. We spent quite a bit of time removing stickers from his fur.
