First day of Fall

Today is the first day of Fall. Fall and I have a love hate relationship. I love the changing of the leaves, the crisp air, and of course temperatures that both my husband and I could compromise with. If it weren't for the fact that fall leads to winter, we could be good friends. If you haven't guessed, I don't do cold weather well and today is an abnormally cold day for this time of year. We went to breakfast at the Pancake House this morning and I was the only one there bundled up in a long coat and beanie, needless to say Matt thought it was hilarious. I can't believe it's almost winter let alone 2008. I swear, the older I get the faster time seems to fly by. This reminds me of a song I heard the other day. Click here to listen.

I finally got another bedroom set yesterday. I say "another" because Matt had boughten me one last year for Christmas. It was perfect...except for the fact that it was built poorly. Long story short we had it replaced 4 times and ended up just telling RC Willey where to stick it. I love my new one, and not just because it was a third of the price :). Got most of it put together..just have to put together the taller dresser. Ps..Don't mind the mismatched bed skirt...it's the only one we have at the moment ;).

I also FINALLY finished the book I've been reading. It's so hard to find the time to read but when I do It's so much fun. I'm excited to get started on the next books in the series.

Geriatric 1927

Here is a person that has been there, done that, and seen it all. I seen a story on TV about how you tube had changed his life. He was a widower with few family and friends who started to post on you tube simply to let people know he was "alive". There is something so incredibly interesting about listening to someone with so much history tell their life story. I was always so interested in my grandmas life stories, however it was very rare to get a story out of her as she didn't like to talk of the past. Click here to watch his videos.

I Suck

Yes...I am well aware of the fact that I suck at keeping up with the blog entries but here it goes. In the last few months we've managed to get a ton done on the house.
We cut in a back door, had a cement pad poured in the backyard as well as stairs put in, framed the basement, sheet rocked almost all of the basement, and laid the rest of the grass. My mom gave me 2 trees that I planted on Thursday (note trees in picture ;). The projects are never ending but so much fun. This last weekend was great. I spent the majority of the weekend working on the house while Matt did homework in what he calls his office....I usually refer to it as his dungeon. When he did manage to escape we had a blast together as always. We made it to the Greek Festival on Friday although it wasn't the biggest hit. And just because one night of pink cotton candy isn't enough, we went to the fair on Saturday. The fair gave us a chance to look at a bunch of nice, relaxing, take your book after a long day at work hot tubs....okay back to reality. Speaking of toys, we bought a patio fire pit. If you know me...ya know its my new favorite toy.

Took the dogs to the school when I got home from work to play ball. Leave it up to Sam to find the one mud hole in the entire field. Needless to say, when we got home we played bath time! Next up I'll have to do something with the bathroom, its a muddy wet mess in there. Mr. Matt just got home from school. We're gonna go get some ice cream for root beer floats and watch a movie ( guess the bathroom with have to wait hehe.

Ps...I forgot about this site until Matt posted it ~~> postsecret

Abbie's Home

Abbie came home! I hadn't mentioned it in my blog as I've been in some state of denial, but she went missing last Thursday. The worst part of the story is that when she got out, she was in heat. Yes.. believe it or not... me, the one who is always preaching about how irresponsible people are when they let their pets have litter after litter has a cat that isn't fixed. Its something I have just kept putting off as I haven't wanted to get up an extra hour early for work to take her in. I just figured it wasn't a big deal since I keep indoors, unless of course....SHE GETS OUT! duh. Pregnant or not pregnant I'm just so glad that she's home. I've been driving myself mad wondering where she could be and if she was okay. She's not exactly street smart since I've never really let her outside..which accounted for most of my guilt. She's a little roughed up and thin but she looks good. Sam was happy to see her. He hasn't left her sight since shes been home...its so much fun to watch. Well its 11:30 pm and Mr. Matt's in bed. Think its time I join him. Here's some pix of her getting a bath..as if she hasn't been through enough :).

Bread and Pie

So...highlights over the weekend were...

Took the dogs to the dog park on Thursday. Note to summer...please don't leave me. We worked a ton on the house both inside and outside. If everything goes smoothly the basement will be sheet rocked tomorrow and the grass will be laid Saturday. It's so exciting to watch everything come together. Sunday morning we went to Ruth's Diner for brunch. Somehow we ended up at Ikea. I think I managed to find something for every room in the house. It really is the dollar store for furniture. I was a good girl though and didn't purchase anything....yet ;). Its Monday now and Matt should be just about finished with class. I see he managed to devour the rest of the blackberry pie I had made. Back in the day, my grandma had always wanted to teach me to make homemade bread and pie. I never did as I just figured "why make it if you can buy it". One of my many regrets is not letting her teach me. I had never realized how much I loved her home cookin til it was gone. Ive made homemade bread a dozen times now and still it never tastes quite like grandmas bread. It does however put a smile on Mr. Matt.

my perfect guy

" You know when your guy is perfect when you walk into a room dressed in sweats, make-up and tears running down you face, and the first thing that he says to you is 'Baby, you look beautiful.'"

Dear Mr. Matt... Thank you for being my perfect guy.

Superbad

Went to see Superbad. Freaking hilarious! The hubby says he didn't like it...but I caught him laughing like more than a million times. I love Seth Rogen...would watch any of his movies. One of my all time favorite series is still Freaks and Geeks.

So I think I'm gonna try to get back into cookin dinners. During our first year of marriage I cooked all the time, but somewhere along the line I got out of the habit. Matt starts school on Wednesday so I figured this would be a good time to get my butt back in the kitchen. If nothing else it will keep us from eating out on a daily basis. Speaking of eating out... had won tons tonight. Have I mentioned that I could live off of won tons. Throw in a nice cold pepsi ....yes the Rice King even has the little round shaped ices. Why is it that the shape of the ice makes a difference in the taste? I dunno..maybe its all in the head.

It's almost 8pm now. Matt took a drive to his brothers work to return something. I am gonna go work in the garden for a few minutes ...see if I can pull some weeds before it gets dark and I have to risk stepping on a snail. Is there any sound worse than the sound of a snail crunching?? I think it comes from when I was young and my grammy loved to crunch them...ehh makes me cringe at the thought. After the garden...I'm hoping to grab some time to read a little bit then I will get some dough made and in the fridge. Gonna have homemade blackberry pie tomorrow ;).
