It has officially been more than a month since I have had a carbonated beverage. I honestly don't think I have went that long without my Pepsi since I was probably 2 yrs old. This is a big defeat for me as I would drink Pepsi when I was stressed, when I had a headache, when I was tired, when we went out to eat, and lets not forget if I was getting sick and had that icky taste in my mouth as I had convinced myself that all of the chemicals in the Pepsi would kill the sick bugs. 75 yrs and still Happy
Mr. Matt posted this link on his blog. I found it to be truly adorable and inspirational. I just started a book called The Host and so far its got me hooked. Matt's new little brother is over playing Xbox so I think I'm gonna go lay a blanket down outside and read. I'm pushin for Cafe Rio for dinner tonight..Yum!

Catch Up
So we got a new camera..Yay! Our old camera finally bit the dust and gave us an excuse to buy a camera thats not covered in duct tape haha. Its a Cannon Powershot SD790 IS and its perfect for what we need.
Like always, its been awhile since I've written. So now we get to play catch up. A couple of weeks ago we had my family over for a BBQ. I had a lot of fun and wish so much that we seen more of each other. Unfortunately, Hayley couldn't make it as she was on vacation with her BFF in Arizona. I didn't get pics of everyone but here's a few.
My brother Russell graduated high school!! I am so excited for him even though in my eyes hes still "Rusky" in the 4th grade. Unfortunately, my papa has the pictures or I would post some. Russell, I really am so proud of you. You brought your grades up and finished with flying colors. I love you more than you'll ever know.
Dad came home for the graduation and we spent the weekend in Aberdeen, Idaho boating. Mother nature wasn't so nice to us though as it was f-r-e-e-z-i-n-g! It was too cold to really get into the water but we had a lot of fun taking the babies on boat rides and playing with the puppies. It's always nice to see dad, just wish it could be more than twice a year.
Mr. Matt signed up for the Big Brother Big Sister program. On the 11th he finally met his little brother and so far it has worked out great. I don't think he could have asked for a better match. One of Matt's new years resolutions was to volunteer and this program is perfect for him as he has always wanted to work with kids. My new favorite hobby is sitting in the hot tub and listening to him talk about their latest activity and how it went. Matt, I truly admire what a great you are.

Reality Check
Yesterday while at Mr. Matt's work, we met a guy who was hired to move some offices from the downstairs to the upstairs. He was wearing what looked to be a religious bag. It was beautifully handmade with very interesting stitching on it. When Mr. curious Matt asked him about his bag, we learned that he was a refugee from Burma and has only been here in the united states for 3 weeks. 3 weeks ..WOW. He learned to speak English in a refugee camp in Thailand after leaving Burma due to civil war. He was separated from his parents 10 years ago and came here completely alone with no family. After listening to his story, I know that I could never begin to understand what he has been through. The things he has seen are the things that I only read about in the newspaper while drinking my caramel macchiatto at the coffee shop. I could see the ambition and hope for a better life in his eyes while he emphasized over and over how there are no opportunities for the people in his homeland. While he was talking, I couldn't help but think of all of the fat idiots that are born here and live off of our welfare system because they don't want to work. So many people take what they have for granted. Hell, as of 2007 antidepressants were the most prescribed drug in the U.S. Meeting him was definitely a reality check for me. I had Mr. Matt give him our phone number in case he finds that he needs a friendly face. I hope he calls.

News Flash... I just gave up carbonated beverages! This is completely spur of the moment but I am tired of the way I feel when I drink them so wish me luck!
How Did I Get So Lucky
Last weekend we had the Love family over for a BBQ. We finally busted out the croquet set that our good friend Clint had given us almost 3 years ago for our wedding present. It was a blast! Never thought croquet could be so much fun. Also got to use our new patio set for the first time... I love it!
So...sad start to the weekend. We had planned a 3 day backpacking trip to Dark Canyon for Memorial Day Weekend but Mother Nature for reasons unknown decided against this. We debated still going despite predictions of non ideal weather but decided against it as scrambling down a mile of rocks with Gabe's goofy legs and new backpacks could be no fun if slick. Its been a crazy season weather wise so far as we had hoped to have 2 backpacking trips under our belt by now and have had to cancel both.
Thursday Night my sister graduated as a Medical Assistant. Chelsea, I am so proud of you. Despite all hardships and obstacles, you did it. Not only did you graduate, but you did it great grades and attendance. This proves that no matter what may stand in your way, if you really put your mind to something, you can accomplish it. Please don't stop here, you have the special touch with people and I know that you have what it takes to make a difference in many lives.
I came home from work on Friday to find Mr. Matt waiting for me with pizza, wine, and my personal favorite, chocolate covered grapes and raspberries. How did I get so lucky. I never imagined that someone could be so right for me. Six years into the relationship now and I couldn't dream of a better person to share my life with. Matt... you make me so happy.
Since we didn't make it too dark canyon this weekend i'll share some pictures of last years trip.
